Non-power steering to power steering installation?

Recently got my hands on a 1998 Corsa B Trip. It has no power steering and it's like driving a go-kart.

How easy would it be to install power steering? And how much would it cost to be done by a pro mechanic?

The Electronic Power Steering in the later corsa B's is built into the steering column it should be possible to swap the steering columns over. These steering columns are on ebay all the time but are expensive because kit car builders like to use them.

I was reading a thread a while ago on another website about hydrualic power steering feeling better than the electronic power steering.
They used the hydraulic power steering from a corsa but the electric pump from an astra as its smaller and easier to mount than the standard corsa pump that runs off the alternator belt.

Hydraulic power steering would be alot more work involving swapping the steering rack and alot of plumbing, the only issue with EPS is the wiring you will have to have a look at a wiring diagram.

Am I probably better buying a Corsa B which has power steering and just transfer everything over? Probably would be cheaper.

If the car in your avatar is yours then i reckon it'd be easier to just fit the power steeering to your car mate. Loving the asbo green too, i used to have a pug 205bin a similar shade. Before i decided against the "ott" modding that is...
