Hey all . After reading throught the project logs i came across some geezers motor who fitted a renault 5 Gordini Turbo charger to his 1.4 8 valve corsa ......... Now im not saying i would nessisarily do this but it does make me wonder ....is it possible to cut and weld a turbo into the downpipe of the 1400 8valve ???? or even get thje 1.5 TD corsa Turbo manifold and cut it up to weld the 1.4 flange onto it ???? Im sure that this would make some preety nippy power gains !!!! Yes i do know it will f**k the enine beyond belief and that it will cause it to run bad but ...on the loud pedal ...i bet it could be a bit rapid !!!

Yes if you have the spare time and welding skills then go for it.
But the standard 1.4 8v is single point injection so you wouldn't be able to get enough fuel in to match the amount of air you will be blasting down the inlet, you would also need to lower the compression ratio to stop pre ignition.
If you just want to do it for fun then slap one on but run it with very low boost.
If you want it to actualy work then find a multi point injection 1.4 8v, lower the compression ratio and look into getting a 5th injector setup or if you have the money custom management.

i assume by pre- ignition youmean ...igniting prior to its timing??? ...well if i was gonna do it for a laugh like ... i was thing to just get a fatter throttle body from like a cav 1.8 or summat and then weld / cut / bodge summink up to c what it does ....??? and how would you go about lowing the compressing ratio???

Yes thats what I mean by pre ignition.
lowering the compression can be done by
-putting a thicker head gasket on if you want to do it properly then get a copper one machined, or just put 2 standard ones on but this is more likely to fail.
-machine out a bowl shape in the top of the piston.
-machine out the head to make it a bit bigger.
if you use a x14sz this has a knock sensor and better timing control so is less likely to suffer from pre ignition, if you then use the pistons from a c14nz this will lower the compression a bit, and two head gaskets should lower it enough. It would be a good idea to get an intercooler aswell.

can i call you haydn genius ???
lol ...Yeah Sounds simple enough to do ...yet its probably not worth doing money wise!
intercoller would be easy enough(yet expensive) ...getting pistons for it would be hassle , unless i got a donor c14nz to play with
...if i could get all the bits cheaply then it could be worth it for a play coz i wanna put a new cam in soon so will have the head off for a bit anyway. !!!
r u a motor mechanic btw ??

Its only worth doing these sorts of mods to an engine like this if you are either getting all the stuff very cheap or for free, or if you have more money than sense.
its a bit pointless modding one of these as you can buy a better engine with a lot more power for quite cheap. you will have to spend alot of money to get a good increase in power from a 1.4 8v.
I was looking at the old daewoo engines for better parts as these are basicaly the same, but with MPI and it apears the 16v head is a straight swap.
if you want to keep it a 1.4 8v get a C14SE theyre a bit rare but huge improvement over a C14NZ or X14SZ.
Or just stick something bigger in.
I'm not a motor mechanic, Ive just graduated I got a first in computer aided engineering engineering. I just love cars and engines and spend to much time reading about them, If you want some ideas of engine mods search this website
