Head Gasket Gone

Post by spooky19587 »

I need some advice, my car has started smoking and am 100% sure either head gasket or timing chain cover gasket is gone. Geting water in oil and white smoke etc. I can get the gaskets and stuff required for about £70 and i know someone who is pretty handy with a spanner. Problem is i dont know whether to just scrap the engine and replace as you can pick engines up for about £200.

Reason for this is i dont know whether the head is gonna need skimming etc. and might end up costing same as replacement engine.

My engine code is a x10xe, just after opinions and advice really???

Cheers in advance, Luke

Yeah if you know someone who ould give you a hand for cheap then just get it fixed ...YET.....if you can pick up an engine for cheap ....consider your spanner handy mate to help you drop the 1.6 in :P lol ......either way sounds a good result for ya !!!
