Corsa Idle Control Valve
My engine light is on with a code P0505 on my 1999 corsa Envoy. The idle revs were 1400 and it was a pig to drive in the lower gears. Since then I have adjusted the grub screw on the throttle so that it is fully out with the least amount of throttle being applied when idling and the car runs much better with much lower idle revs. My engine management light is still on although it does not start up immediately with it on like it used to - just a few seconds later. I have tried resetting the ECU by disconnecting the battery to learn the new settings. Has anybody come across this before? How can I get rid of the EML?

Re: Corsa Idle Control Valve
Try cleaning the idle control valve and the air ways and then reset the base idle to where it was before, then fine tune it when it is at operating temp that should get the eml to go out,
A little trick I have heard about to help with irratic idle is to get the car relativly warm about a quarter on the guage, then disconnect the idle stepper motor plug, that way the revs will be nice and smooth at idle, but make sure its slightly warm first as if you disconnect it cold or full hot it will a pig to start either cold or hot depending on when you unplugged the motor
