fuel pump help PLEAZZZZZZZE

alrite all

my car packed in the otherday after a few days of flatspots in the low and high revs

got a mechanic to come out and he sed its the fuel pump not working. i need to know as i have the 1.4 hi torque engine can

i run a mpi fuel pump or do i need a spi 1 like the origional

i need it sorted asap as i had to get the bus home from work 2nite and i could have quite happily slit me throat

afaik the mpi runs higher fuel pressure than the spi and might cause problems with over fueling, it will be just as easy to get hold of an spi pump and probably chaper.

so what engine are spi
could i use like the 1.2 8v pump will it be the same
