1.0 12v S reg problems

Post by stevieg306 »

hey guys n gals.

my mate has just got a corsa breeze 12V 1.0 3 pot. it has a few problems with it, the one that makes me worry the most its that when it gets to about 1/2 way up the temp gauge (95 deg C) the coolant will bubble up and out the header tank when left to idle with the cap left off the tank, its fine when driving and the rad fan will cut in and bring the temp down when in traffic, i have drained the coolant and put in straight tap water for the moment but will drain that and flush the engine out and replace the water with proper coolant (please dont say HGF). the second is that after replacing the crank sensor when cold it will rev to 4k and it feels like the rev limiter kicks in, when warm it will rev right round to 7.5k. i have reset the ecu but will try another ecu reset and re-learn the ecu at the weekend. it that sometimes it will idle at something like 200-400 rpm, the ICV has been replaced previously. the last one is that the engine shakes quite a bit on idle at about 800-900 rpm, it will be serviced soon.
any ideas on any of theese problems would be much appreciated

sorry for the long post but as you can probably tell the car has a few faults

the reason the water is bubbling with the cap off is because there will be no pressure in the cooling system water boils at higher temp under pressure hence y it doesent with the PRESSURE cap on this is normall however dont leave the engine running with the cap off coz this can cause a head gasket to let go you only have to worry if it starts bubbling with the cap on or it you got mayo on your oil or water cap. And all the 1.0's engines shake coz they only a 3pot not very smooth engines on idle lol.

New to the site by da way in da middle of rebuilding my 1.0 12v after i crashed it last year lol.
