hi people i have a x14sz which at the minute wont start and here is the story
i had a mechanic out to look at it he said it was the fuel pump which i replaced and then had him out again and he said the ecu had fried but ive had a mechanic mate look at it and he said that if it was the ecu it wouldnt even try to turn over it it had fried.
i have checked for a spark but only one of the plugs was wet when i took them back off and checked leeds
iven put a small amout of petrol in the cylinder to see if it was a fuel blockage so i have replaced the fuel filter and the pump but stil nothing.
i does try to turnover but just wont kick off
im thinking its a sensor problem does any one have a clue where to go next cheers
a last ditch attempt.....

Little but more information, does the electrics start up? does the engine turn over but then engine just doesnt engage? does it not even turn over?
If its turning over and not engaging, its either:
a) damp (which youve checked)
b) crankshaft sensor (went on mine, was a pain in the backside)
c) petrol....but I'm pretty sure a mechanic would have picked up on that!

Check you're fule pump relay as if this i knackerd it will stop fuel going to your engine !!! Check your throttle body and injector....chenge your fuel filter too ( this wont be the problem but they tend to get clogged).....check that you get a power coming from your coil pack to your leads. get the ECU from the driver footwell and c if its is visually damged etc ....but if the ECU was damged you would have nothing mate...... also check the started motor !!! hope this helps m8
Matt Neal for the championship ....woo off to thruxton next sunday !!!

Re: a last ditch attempt.....
hi thanks for the reply
right i have checked the engine and it is getting fuel but not sure if it was getting enough but the injector is definatly working. im getting a spark on all 4 cylinders so not leads the engine wants to start and if i can get it to idle it will only idle at 200 rpm with a great smell of petrol all around
i havent checked the ecu yet but if it is the car isnt worth fixing but i also thaught if it was it wouldnt do anything.
im thinking sensors but dont hsve the money to just buy 1 of each and replace them anychance of narrowing it down if it is
cheers 4 any help

Breaking it ehh?
Would that not mean there will be parts going spare?
ya know, if you can get up to 50 posts, we have a great "items for sale" section on the forum
