Uprated brakes?

Hi guys. I was thinkin of maybe getting slightly uprated brakes for my car when they wear out. Ive only got a 1.2 16 valve so i aint gonna need 2.0 litre brakes but i was thinkin about maybe gsi ones. What would i have to change to upgrade to 1.6 brakes and is it worth doing? Also are drilled/grooved disks worth getting or wont it really matter? Thanks

The sportier vented brakes would do. I guess you need discs and calipers. Wouldn't need drilled or grooved for a 1.2. Vented discs are also found on the 1.4 SRi.

Okie dokie kwl thnx. Whats the price difference going to be on these? And would they fit under standard 13" steelies or would i need to get bigger alloys?

From what I can find your discs are 236mm, vented are 256mm. I have 14" steels so I dont know if they will fit with 13".

Hmm, 236mm vented. Ebay item number 160359271560

Would save changing calipers.

changing callipers is a piece of piss, and having bigger brakes isnt a bad thing. 2.0 callipers are normally easier to come by and the discs/pads are sometimes even cheaper, as there is less demand due to them being older.

the 1.6 sport ones are 256mm and would do fine though. Is easy to do, but i would recommend new calliper bolts from vaux too...they arent expensive, and the old ones are likely to be a bit crusty.

Callipers, discs and pads...then 4 calliper bolts. Fin.

It wasn't difficulty I was thinking about, it was £££. :)

ive fitted 1.6 sport callipers to my 1.0 corsa and also fitted drilled and grooved discs to suite the 1.6 callipers, (asthetics really), however when driving, and breaking , touching the pedal softy, the car shdders quite a lot, yet give the brakes a hard jab and the car stops fine, and in a stright line, but doesnt shake at all, seems only when lightly pressing brake pedal, and ive bled the braking system many times and replaced with new dot- fluid, any ideas why so much juddering lightly, but none when braking hard? thanks in advance

yeh...started off as trying to change a 1.6 eco lump into a 1.0 chassis, so obv started to exchange simple bits over, however, it became mega expensive, sold the 1.6 donor car that was fully stripped out, and obv kept the sports bits id taken out into my 1.0 corsa, hence the 1.6 sports brakes 'ready'

i had only done that to match the breaking system with the power of the engine after ive done a few mods to it, ie change inelt/ exhaust manifolds, and exhaust system etc, but like i said, became too expensive and never happened

yeh as said above, stopping power is awesome, when brake pedal pressed hard, but when lightly pressing it, the car shakes quite a lot, and havent found a reason why it would do this under light breaking and not when harder breaking.
