Odometer not working

Hey guys.
I have the following problem on Corsa B 1.2 1996 model.
The Speedometer works though it has a bit of a twitch until about 20-30 mph. The trip-o-meter things also works but the odometer got stuck at 62997 few weeks ago.
What could be the fault ? The cable ? or is it the gauge itself ??
I'm thinking if the cable would be loose/broken then the speedometer should also malfunction , right ?
Also could you please advice where exactly the cable is located in the engine compartment and how hard of a job would be to try and pull it out myself and see what's wrong since i'm a bit low in finances at the moment and don't want to take it to the garage just for that. Here in Cyprus they rip you off bad for every little trip to the garage
