starting proble corsa B

Ihave a 1.0l r reg corsa , the key barrel seized on me recently so i ordered a new barrel with two keys i fitted the new barrel however now the engine starts but dies straight away ,the old key did not have chip in it although there is a device attached to ignition switch , any ideas why it will not run ,advice needed please
