hi guys ive just bought a 1997 1.4 sport and im having problems with the speedo, after around 5 minutes of driving the speedo starts to jump around rapidly and then will just drop to zero and stay there. ive checked and replaced fuse 18 and still no joy, so could someone give me afew more ideas thanks

im assuming that it will have an electric speedo. It could be the electronic speedo drive on the back of the gearbox thats packing in. There not to bad to change or it could a fault in your clocks. I would try changing the speedo drive first and see what happens

Id say just get some clocks from a scrapyard and check if they work better. Just check it first (dont worry about ur milage adjustment)

have you got a pic of the speedo drive or could you tell me what it looks like so i know what im looking for thanks

its on the back of the gearbox and i think its a grey plug that connects into it......and then i think its 1 screw that holds the speedo drive in the gearbox. not sure but i know its defo on the back of the gearbox...
