Yeh sounds like the linkage. Get it checked by a mechanic.

you will probably find its the linkage, they can only be adjusted a few times then they wear out....you will have to get a new 1, there not to bad to fit and aint overly expensive

i re - adjusted the linkage && it selects the gears nicer than it ever did , how ever it will not go into 5th, it just selects 3rd again, i can adjust it to get into 5th but then i loose reverse and reverse becomes 1st again, do you think il need to replace the linkage , or isit the box? some one said it sounds like the 5th cog has been pushed away and has spread the gears out & il need a recon, however i dont see how that could be possable as i dont think i had tryed and ramm it into 5th to do this damage?
