one of the reasons my mot failed is cos my passenger seat is loose. my idea is to just take the whole thing out for the mot. does a car need a passenger seat to pass an mot?

No you can take a seat out but you must leave the seatbelt to pass the MOT.

Ask the garage before you go to make sure.

i phoned them they said i would need to take out the seatbelt too. i think they're just being knobs to me because the cars modified! taking the seatbelt out sounds complicated, is it?

No, it's 3 bolts.
But you'll have to remove the B pillar plastic to get to the top bolt, the lower plastic to get to the belt coil, and the belt slide along the sill. Beware, when I removed my seatbelts the coils stopped working. :( )

all I know is what people say about removeing the back seats you can do it if you leave the seatbelts there. If you want to remove the rear seatbelts aswell then you must register your car with the DVLA as a two seater.

its because if your car is registered as a 5 seater an MOT tester has to inspect 5 seatbelts do if theyre missing its a fail doesn't matter if there is no seat to go with the belts

hmm it's weird that he told me to remove the belt then. the thing is i cant just tighten it cos the bucket seats i got dont fit properly. i'm gonna get new subframes but i just need to get the car through the mot for now, cos they well retest it for free if i do it within the next week
