Newbie.. Quite a few questions

Post by Tom5190 »

Orite, im after abit of help for a mate, the model hes got is a 1.4 corsa B, its currently got a rather large bodykit on it, and isnt looking its best, some 17's, angel eyes and a few other mods. its running coilovers on the front, which is my first question as we need to identify these..... what sort of coilovers are available for the corsa B, and also what sort of drop range is there?

Question 2 is based around the standard bodykit for the corsa, firstly what is the difference between a GSI and base model (his 1.4) ? secondly for us to return the car to a standard kit OR GSI kit what sort of money are we looking at? Will need some wheel arch's, front and rear... front and rear bumpers and sideskirts(if any of the models came with these?) (im not a corsa owner myself and have never looked into them so dont no anything)

3. Also if anybody could help with identifying what bodykit is on there now, how much its worth 2nd hand, and if anyones intrested in buying it that would be good?

The basic plan for the car is to change the style completly, with it running coilovers already the base is there for an all out euro look which i think is what were going to aim for. heres a picture of the car now:

and what were going to aim for (loosely):

Right i'll try to help u a bit here. Dont know if it will answer everything but its a start.

Right, you can only get proper coilovers for the front as the back just simply has coil springs that aint on the shocks. To put it on its ass your gonna need some decent shocks (probz already has these as most coilover kits do) and some small springs (theres some 100mm ones on corsasport somewhere for the proper euro look). Most decent coilovers go down to about 120mm for the front. As for brands pretty much all suspension makers do corsa coilover kits - from spaxx to g-max to koni. The first two are the cheaper and most common ones and koni (and some others that a can't remember atm) are the pricier and higher quality end of things.

Bodykit:

I don't know what the one you have is (im thinking maybe a combat one but tbh i dont have a clue) but it does look pretty nice. Most bodykits go for about 100 - 150 quid depending on condition etc. A GSI kit was a special bodykit fitted to only the GSI model corsas and features a front and rear bumper, arches, sideskirts and a boot spoiler. Your m8s 1.4 would not have had any of them fitted as standard. GSI kits are getting rare now and the price varies dramatically - ive seen front bumpers for for as little as 60 quid or as much as 180 depending on the timing and the condition. In 98% of cases though you are gonna have to respray them to get them looking good though.

Oh and that euro corsa looks lush m8 - i would literally marry it if i could do lol

you can get coilovers with springs on the shocks but they usualy only lower to about 80mm max and and are generally more expensive

Yeah I'd say it's a combat kit...I wouldn't buy it tbh.

And standard wheel arches are about £20 for a full set, you'll prob get them for less though if you look round though :)
