Hi
My son snapped his timing belt today. I have taken off the cover and bottom pulley and can see the arrow on the cog behind the pulley but what does it line up with? Also top pulley on camshaft what lines up with what. Does anyone have any pics they can put on here? Love trying to fix it myself but cannot see marks that pulleys have to line up with. Many thanks. Jimmy

took some pics of how to do the timing for ya from the autodata book i got at work as its the best way to describe how to do it
its pretty simple really just aline the mark on the camshaft pulley to the one on the outter casing (its a v cut out of the casing at the top) and the crank you can do 2 ways, on some cars there is a small mark on the casing at the bottom (like a small notch cut out) that you can aline it up 2 or on them all there is 2 marks cast into the bottom of the engine and you just aline the mark on the pulley in the middle of them, then just hold your tensioner back with a rivet, put it on the engine till its nearly tight on the bolt but not to tight so it cant move lol, put your new belt on and pull the rivet out of your tensioner and tighten it up TIGHT!! then just put your bottom pulley on and try it,
Hope this helps
if you have any trouble pm me and will help

Many thanks bluecorsab fitted the belt quite hassle free thanks for your help. Unfortunately he's damaged the valves so will probably trade it in now with other problems he's havng with it. He's still using it for now but running lumpy. Thanks again. cheers. Jimmy

ow dear not good, but glad i helped
, the bits to repair it are relatively in expensive, or i have a 1.2 engine you could have some bits off if you wished, its done low milage so is a mint engine (only done 32k!!) i wont charge you the earth for bits cus its just sat in my shed doing nothing and rather someone used it than scrapping it
pm me if ya want anything
