The Wiring Saga - Post Halfords

So..

A few of you know I was trying to get the speakers in our Corsa working, without luck as they were cut by the previous owners and they had it wired for amps.

I decided to call into Halfords, a second time... different area...much more helpful (they actually liked their job in the second one)..

I was told it needed hard wired, so we returned for a book in with the intention of having a new cd player installed and they would wire it for an iso connection...I was happy with that..

However!!!

The technician at halfords spent an hour and a half in the car testing wires, couldn't get a complete circuit on any pairing for the speakers, and also said he could get anyhing for an ignition start..power or something to do with the radio..

So..we didn't buy the player...got charged £15 for his time..fair do.

I've been told that the only option could be to really rewire the car to get the complete circuit again..and I don't particularly want to have to fork out 50 quid to get it done.

Another option is that..as I've been told..the ignition thing could be a fuse and the speakers could be amped and somethign with wiring needs done..

Either way..how difficult would it be to rewire the entire car for just the standard speakers that are factory fit...does anyone have experience of this?

Thanks for your help in advance guys

So to simplify the first post as I was a bit full on...

How easy is it to rewire a car for standard speakers?

If you twist off the loom connector that goes between the door/body of the car, how many metal pins are there inside?

If there's just two, then it's pretty easy to drill out and run your own cables through (It's how most people run aftermarket central locking to the doors neatly). If there's a lot more pins in there though it could be a hassle, as the other pins control things like electric windows and the factory central locking.

You might find that the original speaker cables on the door loom are still there (Or partially at least), which you could crimp to and not need to drill it out. The passenger side is much easier to do, you can remove the glovebox and have a good look at it. The drivers side however is wedged up by the fusebox and a complete pain to do. You'll just have to go round with a cheap multimeter doing a continuity test on each wire to see what's working and go from there.

Finding a switched ignition live is pretty easy, just tap it off the cigarette lighter (Assuming you have one).
