It's illegal to do the front door windows, but the rear doors, rear quarter lights and rear windscreen can be as dark as you want! (The darker it is, the harder it is to see out though)

I want limo black on both my cars. :D

You can have front side windows tinted and you also have your window screen done, i no lots of ppl who have got it done already..

"Current UK law (2006) states that rear side windows and the backwindow can be tinted as required. Tinting of the windscreen must allow at least 75% light transmission. This is 70% in the case of the front side windows"

So you could have all windows done but were as back windows can be as dark as you like fronts are regulated..

No you can't as they're already tinted as standard and any further tint will make them illegal.
And you can't tint the windscreen at all.

This is the website that i got that info on window tinting from;
http://www.tintedwindows.co.uk/legalities.htm

"Current UK law (2006) states that rear side windows and the backwindow can be tinted as required. Tinting of the windscreen must allow at least 75% light transmission. This is 70% in the case of the front side windows"

I want to know what you mean by they are tinted as standard aswell myn arn't tinted, they got a scratch coating as standard but no tint.... I no it's a optional extra, and if it was illegal to have front windows tinted why has my mate brought some optional extras on his new astra including full window tints all windows (again except window screen) at a 75% tint.. Surley vauxhall them selfs wouldn't break the law or allow you to break the law.

Maybe they wrong i'll have to check, but i have 5 mates, 2 family members and seen sh*t loads of cars with tinted windows (none have windowscreens done thou) and none of my freinds or family have ever been pulled by police or failed mot or anything... surley if it not allowed they would have been told to remove it by now...

I plan on having myn done soon and i plan on having front side and rear sides and back window done (hopefully all back windows just below limo black) and the front sides, prob a bit above the law so the police can't be funny with me... If i get told i can't do it or i get pulled after having it done i will update but like i said i no ppl who got it done and they havn't had any problems with it so far..

he's right mate most standard windows come with a small amount of tint to stop glare and reduce the sun on ur face and poo.

i've seen 1 or 2 of my mates been pulleed over and -MADE- to remove them before they where allowed to carry on. it just depends whatur local cops are like.

there not breaking the law until the car istaxed and driven on the road. i've seen brand new landrovers being pulled over cos there standard tints where illegal and they where made to remove them. bottom line is the manufacturer dont care once they've got ur money!

and if the place ur is gettin done at is any good they wont allow you to have illegal tints and if you choose to you will have to sign a disclamer.

See.
My windows are a very very slight green colour. It's not a very dark tint, but it's enough to make even the lowest level of tint film illegal. And nothing is allowed on the windscreen at all for visibility. Even the sun strips you see on many cars are illegal and an MoT failure. If it encroaches within the swept area of the wiper blades (without changing the blades to smaller ones) then it's illegal.

If you get stopped for it then it 3 points, a fine and you have to remove them at the roadside. (Totally unfair to give you 3 punishments I know, but you can't argue with the boys in blue can you!)

(althou it goes back in next week) engine managment light keeps coming on   Like i said i only going on what ppl said.. like again i said mates have it done and it aint a problem with them i no one went for M.O.T last month cause i had to drop it off for him and i no that passed with no problems what so ever, so i don't really no then ( and btw i never acutally said you could have window screen done i just copied and pasted what a tinting company had put on there website).... More ppl said it illegal than not so i guess like i said i wrong  8)

soz Cl2 RSA B for miss leading you ...

Hmmm just thought will have to ring company that gave me a quote on myn then and see what they said cause im sure that was for all 4 side windows and the rear...

Now i really didn't no the sun strips were illegal, thought they were ok as long as the width ( or how far they sit down your windowscreen) wasn't to big...
