Paul from coventry here, just bought a super cheap corsa envoy, (1.0 , 12v) as a second car but it has a cpl of probs, firstly i have a rattke from the top odf the engine on idle which goes when you increase revs, im assuming this is the cam chain, and secondly the response is very sluggish, when u pull off and accelerate with more than half pedal the engine completly dies and hesitates badly, now if i accelerate very slowly and i mean slowly it seems ok untill u reach the full throttle area at which point id holds back, i chnged the plugs just incase with no difference whatsoever, checked filter wasnt blocked and was all fine, it kinda reminds me of a carb which has the main jet blocked if you know what i mean, also it vibrates when idling as if it is missing a cylinder, any help would be appreciated or if anyone is local who could look at it i would appreciate it, money isnt a problem, just need to sort it for work,

i have pretty much the same with mine! apart from it doesnt die it, if i put foot to the floor when pulling away it is sooo slugish and pulls of slow. gunna get a service soon tho so i might be able to tell you what it is then!

yo, i'm havin a simlar problem it was fine, but recently when i try to pull away it feels like it wants to stall, the rev nidle goes up normally then drops to nothing and then i hav to give it plenty of gas to stop it staling.

how reliable are the air flow sensors on these ?

well there pritty good mines just had a new 1 though, vauxhaul will charge you 220 or sumit for one or you can get one off ebay for less than 50

seems a few ppl are having this problem, must be a fault on the same part somwhere

the mass air flow meters are very common faults on corsa`s its only twon screws or security torx
i replaced mine now runs fine it just come of the air box

if you take it out try running it if better problem solved if not the its not the mass air flow meter

i took the whole inlet pipe off and it still runs like a pig, so need to look elsewhere, managed to pick a coil pack up for a tenner so woill try that and see what happens, i gather its just a matter of exchanging it yes?

yeah should be only two torx and a plug on the end ent it if im thinking of the rigght thing lol

Just bought a "super cheap" Corsa B for my wife (Christmas present). It had the same problems (and a lot of bodywork problems too), but I managed to get it running like a Swiss watch.

First thing was a new air flow meter, then I cleaned the throttle body. The throttle body cleaning was is step that made the biggest difference! It was so badly clogged that I had to scrape the worst of the gunge off with a screwdriver! After rebuilding, it idled at 3000rpm! This was due to some "mechanic" screwing up the idle instead of cleaning the throttle body.

But anyway... All is very sweet now and I have just finished the bodywork. All together a very cheap and sweet little car.

well ive tried running it with air flow sensor disconected and its still the same, changed coil pack and still no good, because i disconected the sensor and it still runs bad this could mean it is sensor no ? i cant think of anything else, maybe fuel pressure/ pump ? think i need to find a local mechanic who knows his vauxhaulls.

hi i have the same problem, f***ing annoying, it idles at about 800 rpm but when slowing for a junction etc it wants to stall and i have keep revving it just to stay on, hot or cold it makes no difference, any suggestions?

Not the same problem. Clean or replace your EGR valve.

if its runs the same with the air flow sensor dissconnected then thats definately the problem!

1L are known for air flow sensor problems and a slightly rough idle but thats because they are 3 pot.

As said above clean throttle body out thoroughly and replace the air flow sensor, thst should solve it.

and just a note most people have problems with the air flow sensor after fitting an induction kit so don't bother and they are pointless on an engine like this anyway.

all sorted, was the maf sensor, fitted a second hand one i got for a fiver and it runs much better, just gotta sort the cam chain noise out now, strange thing though, when its cold its quiet, as soon as it warms up it rattles but thengoes when i rev the engine, maybe tensioner?? maybe try a flush first.
