Corsa B 1.4L Sport - Engine Fail!

Hi, yesterday, i was driving my corsa, when the engine management light came on. i was far from home, then suddenly, major explosions, clouds of smoke, and the car stopped. i try start it, which it does, but there is a huge knocking noise, and its p***ing oil like there is no tomorrow.
what could people recommend?
engine reconditioning?
preferably near leeds/bradford/west yorkshire.
