Buying 1.0 12v?

I'm thinking about selling my 96 reg 1.2 8v and get a 2000 reg much lower mileage 1.0 12v.
Everything about it is in much better condition.

I was just wondering if there was any common faults with these engines and if they are expensive to fix?
I dont want to buy a car thinking it will last me longer if its highly likely somethings going to go wrong.

What are peoples views on these engines?

Thanks
Dan

1.0i 12v X10XE (1997-2000)
Top Speed 93 mph
Power Output 54 bhp @ 5600 rpm
Torque 82nm @ 2800rpm

1.2 8v X12SZ (1993-1997)
Top Speed 90 mph
Power Output 45 bhp @ 4600 rpm
Torque Output 88nm @ 2800 rpm

the 1lt is a better engine and quite abit faster , with it being a 'xe' its pritty bullet proof . so id go for it :)

hello mate,
I own a 1.0L 12v corsa b club 3dr.
had a few problems with a couple of sensors the other day,it was the MAF sensor, cranksharft sensor and the camsharft sensor.
apart from that its lovely to drive and cheap to insure/petrol etc.

common fault with all corsas , only thing id say is hear out for a rattling noise comming from engine , cuz as i remember there chain driven ? if there a rattle it may be wear in the chain. also just basic checks, best thing to do it take sumone with you that knows stuff bout car or get rac for £30 to have a look .

All to do with the valve capacity really lol but enough of that lol i've got a 1.0lt 12v corsa sting and its quite nippy tbh its a perfect car and if its your first its cheap and more economical than the 1.2 etc good on insurance ect overally good car make sure its well serviced etc and you'll be fine

i drive one, replaced the clutch just as i got it, blew up the cooling system by running it out of water so my fault entirely, and now i got problems with heating, but im thinking thats to do with the coolin system i killed, but yeah there good runners, not the quickest motor ever but ya know, id go for it mate
