Hi guys, Over the past few days i have noticed every now and again when bringing my foot up off the clutch there is a slight squeeking/screaming noise. Basically i first noticed it when coming up a corner in 3rd then shifting down the second and as i brought my foot up it made this noise. It doesnt happen all the time and doesnt seem the affect the car or movement in anyway... Any ideas what it could be ??

thrust bearing on its way by sounds of it...

if its really loud get it sorted best replacing full clutch kit...

take it u sit at traffic lights in first with the clutch down lol

i do sit with my foot on the clutch most of the time lol... how much would it cost to get it sorted ? And as its not too bad at the minute, is there any advice you can give me to slow down how bad it could get apart obviously not sitting in first?

Hi there, that is a cracking nom de plume you have there.
It is likely that it is the thrust bearing right enough. Other than keeping your foot off the clutch at lights etc. there is little you can do but to re new it. The noise will be a little better as you are only using it to change gear, so it will not warm up so much, but if it is still bad, a clutch kit would be the cure. If you are near where you can just go and buy the kit, instead of having to order it by mail, then strip the gear box out first, and check the pressure plate and clutch plate before you buy, you might still get a lot of mileage from them, so you will only need the thrust bearing.

This problem only seems to happen when the engine is hot when ive been driving for 20-30 minutes. While ive been driving, ive noticed another problem that occurs while the engine is warm, When i come to a stop, it sounds as if the engine is trying really hard not to cut out, it will just start jugging forward and the other day in stop start traffic i really had to rev the engine when pulling off as when i tried to find a biting point with no gas it would just stall. Does anyone know what this problem might be?

When you say that it is trying to conk out on you, are you holding the car back with the footbrake, and having your foot on the clutch. when you were at the lights?
A thrust bearing normally screeches even when it is cold, but will obviously get worse as the engine and it heats up. Is your clutch slipping at all? Let us know about this first, and see if we can fix one thing at a time.

is it a 1.0 corsa? (MAF could be duff ?

Initial problem sounds like the thrust bearing as said. Cutting out at low revs could well be the EGR. Cleaning the EGR, replacing or blanking off may solve this problem.

Firstly with the clutch problem, i just assumed it was the clutch as sometimes when downshifting from to 3rd to 2nd it would make this squeek noise when bringing my foot up... however now i hear this same noise when driving normally around 30mph without my foot on the clutch, Its very strange i dont know how to describe it, it's like a rattling droning noise coming from the rear left passenger seat for a short period of time and i'm not very good with technical car terms, all i was wondering if theres a simple fix, if not the likely cost...

Perhaps you should check the bearing on that particular wheel. Do you feel that there is a slight wobble with the car at all?
It could be the bearing as you said you had changed gear going round to the left then the car would have most of its weight on the left hand side, this being the first symptom.
EGR valve does need cleaner or blanked off would be better. I believe this is recommended by Vauxhall now.

Do you feel any clunking or grinding when turning hard to the left? Thinking that the driveshaft may be on the way out as well.

Shot wheel bearings tend to make noise at particular road speeds. If the noise happens and when you speed up it goes away then I would say bearing.
