hi guys i just want some advice with sorting out the rust on my corsa.
theres a little bubbling on the boot door, can i just rub this down etc???? (iv never done this sorta thing before)
also the underside of the bonnet at the front (the lip) is very very rusty, paint flaking off, is it best to replace it???
iv read about kits you can buy that converts the rust back to metal or summit, are these any good?
thanks
James

Re: rust
yes mate, just rub down the affected areas with some fine sand paper, nothing rough coz it will leave big scratch's in the paint that will then need filling, then rub it back to bare metal, trat with sum Rust Killer, like that from halfords,it comes in like a tippex tube with a brush to brush it on,then this stuff will turn the bare metal black and stop the rust coming back.
then just buy some metal primer, again from halfords, spray 2/3 light coats of it on the area affected, rub it down a lil bit more then re primer if nessacary, then just paint it the colour of your car,2/3 coats then 2/3 coats of clear laquer.
small jobs like this can be done very well by a DIY'ER but bigger jobs like complete panels are best left to a body shop.
honestly,if its rusty, and you do it all wrong then just take it to the bodyshop for them to sort it,so u have nowt to lose.
i once completley resprayed a entire car with rattle cans and preped the whole car my self, dont get me wrong it was never as good as a pro but it was very good, but i just took my time and thought ''if i do it all wrong and it looks a mess then ill take it to a body shop, coz it needed doing anyway''

I'd rather push a Corsa,than drive anything else. : )

Mine was similar. You need to use an angle grinder with a sanding disc or something like it. You would wear your fingerprints off doing it by hand. Then use rust killer before priming and painting. If you can get a decent bonnet cheap I would prefer that option.
