EML and slight misfire

Post by Jim680 »

Just set off and was about to go shopping and the Engine management light came on, so I stopped in a layby turned engine off and back on again, as soon as I accelereted to pull away it came back on. It sounds as if it's missing, fine when moving but just does'nt sound too good when idling. It's a Sport 1.6, 99 plate, Can a paperclip test be done on a x16xe (that's what i believe it is) I checked topbuzz...it lists "C16XE" but not X16XE, Any help appreciated, Jim

double check it
it should flash once, then pause, then flash twice this is to just say its working
and it does this 3 times

so it should go FLASH PAUSE FLASH FLASH, FLASH PAUSE FLASH FLASH, FLASH PAUSE FLASH FLASH, !THEN! it will give you your fault code
you have to make a note of the flashes and the pauses

s ok i figgured it out
yours uses the newer fuel system rather than the GM one
it dosnt have a 12 diagnotic start

its flashing 1,4,0,5
(10 flashes = 0 on yours)

which shows as Exhaust Gas Re-circulation (EGR) valve faulty

bit of a rough guide on where it is and how to remove: http://forums.corsa-b.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=105&t=13605
