had my car for 1 year and 1/4 now it stared first time even last month on them really cold days were it froze my wipers. only thing i had to change on the are the thermo stat two wheels and the cd player,speakers. it passed its mot 1st time aswell with its 2nd mot with me on the 27th of 2010 coming up it wont start. its not the battery as the car trys to start then it gets a choke noise n shakes the car before goes back normal sound of it trying to start. today it got goin but it sounded like a new engine starting for first time it was REALLY low and shook car before dying out again. only thing i can think of is the spark plugs or the poo has got into the engine from the petrol tank. any ideals?

Its always worth trying the little things before you take it to a garage, change your spark plugs over as they dont cost too much and its always worth swapping them every so often. I'd also try when you turn your key, put it in second and rev quite a lot, if it starts leave it for 10-15 minutes and turn it off, if it doesnt die that is. Good luck.

What does this accomplish?

sounds to me like it cud be somthing like tthe idel control valve maybe

As matty says try cleaning the icv, you will find a guide in the tutorial section.
