Hi guys, the corsa went for MOT yesterday and failed due to the handbrake cables being significantly frayed, so I've bought 2 new cables, the garage want about £80 to fit it they reckon it will take about 2 hours...I changed the handbrake cable on my calibra in about 10mins, if that. Can anyone give me a guide or some tips?
Many thanks!

Do youneed to remove the brake drums?

yeah you need to take off the brake drums so you can disconnect the cable from the shoes, remove a clip on the backplate that holds the cable in place then its just a case of disconnecting the cable in the middle, then swap the cables over and take any parts from the old cable that dont come with the new cable and connect them, grease the locaters on the rear axle and push the cable in to them, then feed the cable through the back plate and coonect them back to the shoes, put the clip back on the cable then adjust them if needed.
it is pretty easy but it can be tricky getting the cable in the locating guides and i presume its much harder doing it on your back under the car lol
hope this helps
