hello people i'm new here and i have got a corsa sport its a 1.4 16v. i wanted to ask for some advice on what i can do to the car to get more speed out of it? i have been told there is alot that can be done to corsas to get more out of it. i have thought about getting another engine but i would like to know if there is anything i can do first.

As the others said, if you have that kinda of budget, there's no point in spending it on tuning a 1.4...buy a bigger engined model.

there's also the fact of insurance, there's nothing more then i would love to have a bigger engine but the insurance will really cripple me i wold rather have a tuned 1.4 and not tell the insurance company.

Aside from the fact that it will mean you are not insured, I do know what your getting at. I did go through the same thought process on my first couple of cars (1.2, 1.4 Novas).

But really...how much more is a 1.6 going to be to insure then the 1.4? Have you had quotes?

Ok, so I reckon you're options are...

- Spending budget on insuring a higher spec base car.

- Budget mentalist option...budget tune it all...lighten the fly, P&P the head yourself, cheapy exhaust, then slap on some motorbike throttle bodies and run it all on Megasquirt. Shouldn't cost the earth but will need effort, devious parts hunting and thought to get it all set up right. And don't expect reliable daily driving without issues like poor idle etc.

- IMO the best option...get a damn good brake set up (ie the astra/cav/vec/cal 16V 256mm setup or V6/Turbo etc) and sort the suspension. Then once you can afford to insure a higher spec, either transfer it all over to a bigger engined corsa. Or slapping in one of the usual suspects, XE etc.

I am actually trying to be helpful...even if it isn't coming across like that.
