2000 w reg 1.0l idle problem?

Bit of a story to this but it may all be linked.
Its a 2000 w reg 1.0l and i had trouble accelerating from the car being off for a period of time. After a few minutes it would kick in to life. Plus at high speeds id put my foot down and the engine light would come on and i would have a lack of power. This would go off after a while. Last week i changed the mass air flow meter and this worked great. The car was responsive and felt really good. To make sure it cope at high speeds i went on a dual carriageway and i could accelerate fine. So i turned round and started driving home. At about 50 mph the revs dropped to 0 the EPS light came on and i had now power. Luckily i free rolled to a slip rad and stopped. I got jumped and as soon as the revs got to low it would cut out. The battery was also drained. I called the AA and he told me it was crankshaft sensor and i needed a new battery. So i got a new battery and sensor fitted today and i felt ok. I went on a little trip and parked up but left the car running and the revs dropped and the car started to shudder and then the engine light came on then the revs shot up to about the 2 mark then it stabilized. So i turn off the engine and turned back on after a little while and the revs dropped too low and it felt like it would stall but it doesnt and it goes back to normal.
I have no idea what to do next it seems everything i do just creates a new problem.
Sorry about the long story but any help would be good.
thanks!
