Hi guys, im abit of a noob when it comes to this stuff so just thought i'd ask a few questions.

im planning on lowering my car by 40mm using springs only.. i asked my neighbour whos a mechanic how much it wud cost to get it done for me and he said around £100-150..

so what my question is.. can i not do it myself? is it rlly hard to just install springs? just seems alot for just installing springs.

also.. im planning on painting my sxi alloys white, but i got 1 tyre verging on illegal and another basically cracked and overall i think they need balancing as i slightly go to the left when driving.. so what order would i need to do this all in? suspension, wheels, new tyres, balance?

help needed asap loll wna know so i can hurry n order ma springs loll

cheers

Tyres first as they are dangerous. Then tracking. You can easily lower your car yourself just using springs but I wouldn't advise it. It will handle like crap. Best to go for a complete coilover package which is rather expensive.

yeh i know i gta get them done, im just stuck with dilema, lowering my car and doing all my tyres.. or using some 15" alloys i got which only need 1 new tyre and balancing and then not bother with lowering...

u sure it will handle like crap :/ swear lots of people said its ok with ur own shocks aslong as they not lower than 40.

mite jus use my bigger alloys tbh seems less hassle and money :(

suspension, new tyres balance then paint id say. and no the springs are easy to change on the back just jack on the seal undo the 17mm bolt and the bottom of each shock then the rear beam will cum down allowing the springs to come out, would b ideal to have jack under the rear beam then when both bolts out let it down on that. then the front is the 2 18 or 19mm bolts going through the hub then the 13mm bolts on top and the strut will cum out then u need spring compressors to compress the spring then undo the 18mm nut and the top mount and spring rubber will come off then the spring but keep them in order. Undo spring compressors then, u might not need to compress the new springs as they shorter but do check but when installing make sure the spring rubber slides round so the stop is on the spring then do your nut up and put back together.

I had mine lowered just with springs and it was downright dangerous on all but the smoothest of roads. Bounced about like a kangaroo.

mines lowered 60mm all round on uprated shocks and springs, piece of piss to do.did it myself in just over a hour at home.i would advise u to go for a complete kit too as it makes a world of difference to springs alone.
