Loss of 'power'

Hi all,

This only seems to happen in 4th gear .. and on the bypass/motorway.

As im getting the car to speed up, through the gears when i hit 4th it will be fine for a while, but as the revs increase it seems like it 'chokes' itself and looses power, and then the engine management light comes on, but if i change to 5th gear it will go off, and will pick up speed and be fine.

This only seems to happen in 4th though. On country roads it seems fine getting to 60 in 4th gear.

Any thoughts on what this could be ?

Cheers, Wont work on mine though, Ive got a 1.2 16v

Anyone know why it wouldn't work, just out of interest. I've got the 'plug' it says to connect it too.

you have the plug but missing the pins to short

try pressing the 2 buttons on the multi fuction display (the thing with the date and time on)
on some cars it will flash up error codes

Ah right, Will check the mfd, i played about with it the other week an some stuff came up .. so will give it a go tomorrow and see if i can find a code from it.

Out of curiosity. Are all sxi's 1.2 16v?
