Fault code/won't start

Hi All, I hope somebody can help here, 99 Corsa 1.2 16V, cut out this morning on the wife, it just stopped, it will turn over but won't start. I intended to to do the paper clip test, but reading the guide it seems my engine is not compatible with the paper clip test, or is there another way of finding the fault code.

Many Thanks

Barry

Update...I've just been to the car, where the wife left it, it very conveniently broke down right outside her work, lifted the bonnet, checked all connections, checked the oil, everything looked ok, tried to start it, and it startd without a problem...which was nice...but I'm now left with the fear of it happening again...and not knowing what caused this.

May of just over heated..

If you're that worried take it down to the mechhies and have them look over it.

Well I've been to pick up the car, only 6 miles away, about halfway home it seemed to misfire, only for a second...then very soon after while changing gear as I had the clutch to the floor it cut out, the engine mamagement light came on, I completed the gear change and let the clutch out and the engine powered up, effectively a bump start, I deliberately kept the revs high until I got home, as I turned on to my drive I changed gear let the revs drop and it conked out again. It will not start from the key, I will try starting it again later when it has cooled down.
It seems to be cutting out at low revs when at normal running temperature, it idles and runs fine at low revs when cold.
Also the paperclip trick won't work on this engine, there is no metal lug in position 6 of the connector.

I know this is probably wrong but check to fuel is getting through properly, there may be a blockage and some higher revs may have enough pressure to push it through, not sure though. Clean all the filters etc,

Or, You may need to adjust the throtle or idle of the car. In older cars this is as simple as tightening a cable. So when the car is just idling it will naturally rev higher and not stall. The idle control valve may be effed. Just try and clean it out mate.

Hope this helps,

Mike.

Oh, forgot to mention, it could be the Mass Air Flow sensor, try to get it to a mechhies for them to clean it out

Hope this helps,

Mike.

Yeah, just curious, when was it last serviced?

It was around about May/June last year...I put a new radiator in last month, I wonder if I've disturbed something.

You never know..

I know this again may sound odd but if you installed a new one, then just go around and tighten all the bolts up, you never know, a loose one may be causing it. Just go over the engine with a spanner, you never know.

Hope this helps,

Mike.

It's usually installed inside the intake air duct between the air filter and the engine.

Hope this helps,

Mike.

Any time,

Just to know what you're looking for:

(This is from a Corsa C but it's a similar thing (just on the other side of the engine)

Look for something similar to that,

I hope this helps,

Mike. :)

It's been stood for 2 hours now, plenty of time to cool down, just tried it and it started first turn!
