To sell or not to sell??

Ok, first of all, i have never used a forum before, so please forgive me if i am going about it the wrong way. Basically, I own a 1996 Corsa trip, it is my first car, and I love it to bits, but about a week ago, my oil pump went as well cambelt. At the moment it is parked outside the house, as it just billows puffs of black smoke, so undrivable. I bought it for £575 in October '09 and just wondered how much anyone would reckon i could get for it in its current state, or whether fixing it up first would be a better idea??

You may get more cash if you strip it and sell individual parts. You're looking at about £35/40 for a cambelt, and about £30 for an oil pump. So you wouldn't pay more then £100 for those parts, but then you have labour on top of that. You wouldn't get much to sell it, unless to a scrappie. [Even those dont give you the full amount]

I never thought to do that. But saying that, I think I would rather just get shut, as I have to park it on the street. I don't think that stripping it down infull view of the public would be such a great idea. As a unit, how much would you think. Obviously I wouldn't be expecting to get what I paid for it, it has 7months mot, and even though undrivable. I am still going to have to tax it for another 6 months at the end of march
