Corsa Performance Problem

Hi all
ive been a lurker for a wile now and need a little help with my corsa if possible.
i seem to be having power problems like its being sluggish and when u put your foot down it feels like the power is about to kick in then it just goes flat.
i done a full service in november changed brakes, plugs, leads, oild filter, oil change, air filter, shoes, and all was well spot on up until a couple of days ago when it just started running rough and flat so i decided to disconnect the battery for about 6 hours and tried the car again and it ran alot better but not 100%
Now looking around the forums people are saying it is related to the mass airflow meter ? and can be cleaned ? now im not too clued up on the engine side so would it be possible for someone to tell me or show me where the airflow meter is so i can take it out and clean it ?
my car is
Corsa B 1.2 8V 97
thank you and look forward to the replies.
Chris.

As far as I know the Mass Airflow Meter (MAF) can't be cleaned. Are you sure you arnt thinking of the ERG valve?
I had this problem recently and just replaced the MAF sensor - and fixed the problem.
What Year/Reg is your car and what size engine is it? Or do you know the engine code (try looking here for help:

From a scrappy I can't say, personally I don't like to trust this sort of thing from there due to the fact it could have the same fault.
Here is where its normally located, you can tell by the wires that come out the bottom of it:
Edit - Its the red arrow if you wern't sure.

thanks for the reply
i think my maf sensor is located next to the water bottle ? a green 3 pin type plug that plus in to something coming from above the water bottle would i just follow the lead and it should take me to the sensor ?
thank you for all the help
Chris.

Afraid I can't say for sure without looking at your engine (even a picture would do) as I don't know they layout of the engine. This is what a MAF sensor normally looks like:
If you can get the part number off of it (it may well be underneath - mine was) I might be able to find you a replacement. Mine cost me £35 including postage!

Cheers. You may get others helping since they will probably have more experience with your engine than I do (I have the 12v version of the same engine).
Look forward to seeing it. Don't forget to get the part number off it once you find it

Thanks for the pictures. Im afraid since they seem to have changed ALOT around between the 6v and the 12v I can not seem to locate the MAF on yours
So im afraid I can't be any more help until someone helps me locate it
I think that is the rocker cover, but can't say for certain so will have to wait for more experienced members to help with that
though I do hope you don't mean actual custard

that unit with the green plug is a map sensor (manifold absolute pressure) and that thing with vauxhall written on it is the rocker cover but taking it off and cleaning it wont help you ,just take the car on a long run and all your custard gunge will dissappear as its only condensation from short runs and cold weather

the pipe going to the top of exhaust is a hot air feed the other one is a cold air feed to bottom of air box , the car will run perfectly alright without both of them if you took the air box off and fitted a performance cone filter you wouldnt be using either of them

hi all
thanks for the replies.
the car started behaving its self for the las week but now is started jerkin etc when i pu my foot down or someimes goes flat and it is gettin rather annoyin tbh. Would anyone be able to tell me where the mass air flow sensor is located on my engine as mine is a different layout than the one subliminal posted.
if that isnt the cause does anyone have any ideas on what it may be ? ive cleaned the spark plugs todat and also checked the leads all seem fine.
anyways thanks alot and look forward to the replies.

Your problem could be the air temperature sensor, it is the air box with the red wire going into it. Disconnect it and let us know what happens. If this is not working the ecu will not get the correct air temperature to calculate the correct mixture, the car will then be a bit lumpy, and revs. will flatten out as well. Did you clean the icv valve, it is located on the throttle body?
