last week a bought a 1.7 diesel, what sort of mods can you do on these??

All i have seen done is an induction kit on a diesel to be honest

turbo it

turbo, turn up the boost...and tweak the diesel pump, should squeeze a bit more performance out of it, but tbh a diesel without a turbo is never going 2 be good for modding

yeh as said u aint gonna get a rocket ship out of it. if u can afford it try and drop a 1.7 td in but thats a lot of work and money tbh. best bet is 2 not worry about the performance 2 much and do up the rest of it. get i nice set of vauxhall alloys and lower it about 60mm on springs and shocks or even better coilovers. U might not win any races on the straights but thru the corners u shud be pretty quick. then theres bigger breaks as well. just experiment really - its your car and each person has their own idea about what will look/feel good
