when i was on my way back from work earlier my corsa seems to be hard to get into gear. i have to give it a really hard push to get it into gear and when i put it in reverse it grinds like hell! someone told me it could be the gear box oil is this true? ( sorry i'm no good with cars
) its a corsa sport 1.4 16v. where do i check to find if the oil is low in the gear box?

It could be the oil or it might be the selector in the gearbox on its way out.

you could try adjusting the clutch a bit and see if that improves it

to check the gear oil level there is a 13mm bolt on right side of gearbox behind drive shaft as you look from the front of the car. its a pig to get at, you may need to remove nsf wheel and get at it from the side or from underneith the car. could also be worn linkage as matty said. it could also be the clutch itself.
