if you have swapped the engine AND the ecu over to the new engine and new ecu that you bought then you will have to swap the little chip inside of the actual key itself aswell, othewise the engine wont fire, ORR if you havnt got the little chip for the new ecu, then plug back in your old ecu so as that the key chip is the same, that should solve the problem.

but then again, if you havent touched the ecu at all, it might be a crank sensor or something on the way out maybe, try swapping some of the sensors over from your old engine,

tbh mate i dont think my key has the chip in it..as i used the sri ecu with the sri engine an the donor car was an m reg, the ecu plugs are also slightly different. jus wondered if there was some sensors the sri engine wouldn't have it bein older the the car loom would need? And also any idea's on why the old engine was smokin and puttin oil into the inlet? as i wont to try an sort that one out as its low millage?

Re: Sport an sri engines
if your car is p reg its definately immobilised put your ecu back on and it should start . to use the ecu off the sri is not that simple as your wiring loom has the immobiliser circuit built in and you cant just leave it out and forget about it , you would need to change the loom and its not worth the bother. if your management light is flashing its immobilised so that alone tells you your car has it fitted , i cant really see why you changed the ecu in the first place
