Need Some help, Brought these off a mate he brought them and had them fitted to his VW polo for less than a month befor he decide he leaving the country to work abroad... I brought them off him for £100 (he paid near 300 for them) the tyres have seen less than 1000 miles so i think i got a bargain.. now my problem is will they fit my car? They are 15" 195/50r15 et38... spoke to ppl on other sites and they say between et35 and 45 fit the corsa's but on here ppl say between 45 -49.. just for information the car is 1999 1.2 sxi, has not been lowered.. i also got the locking bolts and spiggot rings included in the sale.. will these bolts and rings fit my car

best way to find out is to fit them and find out.
the reason that people on other forums say its et35 and 45et and we say 45-49et is because we know what we are on about

wot forum told you its thats offset?

lol they cudnt be easyier to fit tbh mate, loosen the bolts, jack it up and remove the wheel. offer up new wheel and bolt on. jack it back down and tighten the nuts again.take it for a drive and see if you can hear or feel any scraping.

when u tighten the wheel nuts up make sure you do them in the righ order so it goes on square.

imaging your wheel nuts look like this, do the oppistes up. so do it 1,4,3,2 if you get me.

vw wheels fit vauxhalls the studs are the same its the offset tht may be a prob but as vaxhalls that have the bigger offset they shud sit nicely in the arch worst case is spacers if tehy hit the shocks

Yea Iknow what a mean with the bolts and that... it the same as when ya change ya wheel and put the spare on which I have had to do a few tyms. What I don't get is all the poo with the spiggot rings where do they sit.. Which way round do they go and all that, been told I have to get correct size spiggot for my car, how do I know it's size.. Lol am I having a blonde moment? I have fitted some alloys to a mates car befor and he Neva had any spiggot rings.. Think that is was has confused me the most lol..

spiggot rings sit in the very centre of the wheel the big hole in the middle of the rim and they sit the the flat side of the spiggit ring pointing up so that it sits against the hub/car they just push in.

the spiggot ring has to be mesured for the wheels and then made for the car so that its a tight fit on the car i dont always have them as when the wheels are bolted on the wheel cant move anywere so up to you but they are very expensive for what they are

So what your saying then is there isn't a need to fit the spiggot rings? The onse I got with the alloys I presume where designed for the chaps vw. but they dont actually sit inside that hole in the wheels more like on the edge of it.. The edge if the hole is tapered.. And then the spiggot rings have a flat side that has three little edges on (looks like locating bits like they shud sit in a hole to stop the ring moving... The other side is the outer edge is flat innter edge tapered.. Will try and get some pics of them up.. Soz about me being thick here.. I was Reading a guide on fitting alloys they said..

These are just rings of aluminium or hard plastic, that fit over the spigot on your car and then have a proper fit with the spigot hole on the wheel. If you don't have the spigot taking all the weight of the car, chances are you'll break one or more studs when you drive the car hard or have to brake hard. Remember the wheel nuts are simply there to hold the wheel on, NOT support the weight of the car. Also, as there is nothing to centre the wheel, you'll notice the wheels go in and out of balance because as you drive around, they'll move around on the hub.

Are they really needed? Can not uses them an not f**k up ya alloys and car?

Does anyone know what size spigot rings I will actaully need to fit my corsa.. Have been looking around on net and found a site that says i need a spigot ring with a bore of 56.6mm can anyone confirm this or tell me the correct size.. I think I know someone that can machiene me some for my car using billet aluminium which I have also been told is what the higher spec spigots are made from..
