100BHP Corsa 1L 12valve?

Post by George1 »

I want to get 100BHP out of my
1998 1litre 12valve Corsa B.

At the moment it has
KnN Air Induction Kit,
16" Alloys with yok tyres
---------------------------
what im looking at buying/doing
Porting/Gas Flowing Head
Lowering Jamex 40mm or 60mm Springs (if i lower 60mm will i have to shave the arches?)
BRAKES....still unsure on this also, looking at Astra SRI Brakes for the front think im gna leave drums ont back most of braking is front(correct me if im wrong).
Full through exhaust de-cated
Cold air feed
Car Diet...(strip everything, par maybe back seats im wanting to keep them tbh but if they need to go they go also)
Perspex Windows or Polycarb Windows? ( lots of arguments on this n i dont knowwhat to go for?)

Basically I want some help on deciding what to do, baring in mind im paying this per month bcoz of limited money.

so any help is apreciated. :)

you would struggle to get 100bhp out of a 1.4 8v neither mind a 1.0 12v

what have you got bhp at the minute 50ish ,no one does any sort of tuning stuff for them so you will struggle .you will find it near impossible to find a de cat pipe for it for a start because the cat is part of the manifold so other than a decent air filter you cant do much .your biggest problem will be if you try and extract real horse power out of that engine it will without doubt just blow up ,it really is the wrong engine to be messing around with ,the easy gain in horse power is capacity so 14 16 is the answer

it will fit ok mate ,you will be suprised what you can do and all relatively cheap . mine started its life as a 14 auto then went to a 12 manual then 14 and now 2litre all with no mods to the body so could easily go back to a 12/14 tomorrow and all could be done in a day

aye, i had a look at that before, its a really nice engine, im looking at a 1.4 16valve, aparently there pretty good for tuning capabilities. the problems occur in money lol, all the handling is getting done first b4 i touch engine power, bigger brakes i want some toyo t1r 195/45/16 but there like 250-300quid for a set.
im carrying on lightweighting it this weekend, starting with ripping all the sound deading out aparently it weighs alot. i was just wondering with an engine swap what will i need, just an engine? coz i keep hearing that people need new wiring looms?

yes you will need a loom and ecu as you are going to be gaining a cylinder but all you are going to need is in the scrap yards already so the cost is pretty low i would stick to 15s mate as tyres are expensive for 16s and you have more scope to lower it with the smaller wheel
