Banging rear axel

Hi,
I posted a topic a while ago about a "Strange knocking". Well now I know the loud bangs are coming from the exhaust bracket hitting against the rear axel.
I have laid down whilst others pushed on the car and this is what makes the noise, but when I go the garage, they simply seem to deny it.
Im going again today to prove that it is that (I have to go to charlie browns because I have a guarantee with them).
I was jsut wondering, is there actually anything they can do to increase the gap between the axel and exhaust?
I dont want to get annoyed with them if there is actually nothing they can do.
Thank you for any replies
