Hello there just wondered if someone could give me a bit of advice. My corsa had started overheating so i took it to the garage. They said it had lost a lot of water but they thought it was the start of the head gasket going. They filled the car back up & said it was ok to drive as long as i didnt thrash it.

So the next day on my way to work i only just made it due to it overheating again. When i opened the bonnet water was pouring out of the engine bay I got a picture also of where it seems the water is leaking from. Im guessing its actually from the radiator? Or does it look like a pipe connected to it?

Any help is gladly received on what to do next.

can you see where the water is actually comin from ? if its from the rad itself get radweld or crack an egg in the rad it will hold untill you can replace the rad ! if not need more pics to locate the leak !

It was difficult to get the camera in there to be honest. It looks like somewhere either at the very edge of the radiator or the pipe next to it. Couldnt really see the exact hole unfortunately.

what i would do wud b dry all of surfaces and then pour water into the system and blow on the top bottle where water goes in to see where the leak is from that way it shud show ya if its a pipe swap it if its the rad thn rad weld or egg it untill ya cn get a rad sorted !

looks to me like its the radiator. either get a new one or one from a scrappy there pritty simple to change. or alterntivly get some rad weld, my water pump was leaking pritty bad the other day(had to fill it up twice in 6hours), i used some rad weld cost me bout £12 and its sorted it. and according to the bottle its "perminant". get some decent stuff thou.

woundt bother with rad weld, when i had a leak in mine, i used it
it must have lasted about half a mile....

new radiator is the way to go. probably about £50-60 for a brand new one... less for one from a scappy
if you do go for a scrapyard one, try to get one thats had a rear end crash for obvious reasons

I thought it would mean a replacement so its just confirmed that may well try fitting it myself. Does the front bumper need to come off to fit it? Ive got a 1.2 16v engine by the way.

nah you dont need to remove the bumper, just disconnect the radiators pipes and reconnect the new one in
its pretty straight forwad

make sure you got some buckets under where the pipes are to catch the coolant when it leaks out.

have you tried getting it pressure tested? thats the best way to go and find a leak. kwik fit or a place like that should do it mate

you could have a pressure test done that would find the leak
however i reccomend having a closer look at this thread because i am 100% certan i have found the actual leak, and im sure d0min0 has too
but incase he hasnt........
