Panel Filters

Post by MattySAFC »

Has anyone put an aftermarket panel filter into their standard airbox i.e. a green cotton or pipercross or k&n one?

If so did you notice a change in performance or sound?

Cheers

i noticed a tiny performance increase - it did seem 2 pick up slightly better and give slightly better mpg - when i got rid of it for a week i really did notice not having it. mine was a 1.2 16 valve btw

if u want a bit better noise from a panel filter and a standard airbox then u cud always drill a few holes in the side of the airbox - its quick and easy and with the right backbox will make quite a nice noise

Yeah mines a 1.2 16v aswell.
I cant be bothered drilling holes in my airbox or anything like that and im keeping my standard backbox so was just wondering if I would hear a difference in noise from just a panel filter.

What brand is yours by the way?

Ar rite. just I don't see any point drilling the airbox as it just means you're gonna be sucking warm air in from the engine bay which would be worse than the original airbox and its air supply.

drilling airbox does make a large difference 2 noise yeh and matty if u drill the holes on the side closest to the wing it does minimize this effect. i agree it aint ideal but it really wont make much difference. if u want maybe try and put a custom airflow pipe from the grill into the airbox to get a bit more cold air in there :)
