Cigarette Lighter heats but no power?

Hi,

First post on the forums.

Anyway, the cigarette lighter in my corsa heats the fag lighter thing but doesn't power anything like sat nav or phone chargers.

Have swapped the pos and neg cables, as they were backwards, but still nout?

Any ideas?

Just to say, the fuse is fine and there is current flowing through it.

Try checking the connections behind the cig socket, sometimes they can work loose.

Normally there is only one fuse for the cig socket, and im a little confused as to why it will heat up, but not give you 12 volts.


Try this method :-

Disconnect your car battery
Remove the cig socket fuse
Replace the fuse for a new one, i know you said there is nothing wrong with it but anyway...

Leave your car overnight.

Re-connect your battery
Then connect your fuse
AND TRY


Sometimes this can work, as it resets electrical parts of your car.

It's worth a try!!!!
