Changing my 1.2 to 1.4 16v

Post by killer17 »

Hello to all corsa fans on this forum.
This summer I have a big plan with my corsa b. I would like to change the small 1.2 8v engine(C12NZ) to 1.4 16 (X14XE). I saw that you do things like this often :D . Now my question is: What will I need to modify on my electrical system so that the new engine will run. My car is made in 1994 and the engine will come from a corsa b from 1996-1998. Any advice? I will buy it with the gearbox. Thanks mates :)

sensor? eh, the loom should come with the enigne, which you just un plug from your engine, and then plug in after its in place. you might have to swap the loom for the starting and charging thats if the plugs are different than on your 1.2, im not sure if you will have to tho, it should be the same.

best way to do it i find is
have a look on autotrader for a 1.2 8v see how much they are going for
sell yours for the same price.....
then buy a 1.4 16v

seen a few 1.4 16vs on trader for around the same asking price as an old 1.2. why go through the hassle of swapping the engine?

Octane2097 -> In my country(Romania) it`s a little hard to sell this car and buy the 1.4 16v model. They are a few of them and are a little expensive, compared to the 1.2 model. The engines are easy to find because there a lot of second hand part shops that bring engines from Germany, Belgium, and other countryes.
Pricer -> sorry for my english :D I this it was "senzor". Wright? I hope i will manage to make the change.
Cheers to all!

1.2 8v are less or about same as a 1.0l 12v as it is lol

rather than piss around increasing by 0.2 litres go for a 1.6 or a 2.0

who doesnt whant a 2l engine. But there are 2 major things that i want to escape from. Bigger taxes at the insurance, a have a 1.6 l car now and I pay double againts the 1.2. So the 1.4 is still under the 1.6l. And the second thing is the car tax wich is bigger.
