Hi all!

I have a 1.2 8v'er that seems to have started squeaking today (From the engine bay). Can hear it at idle and while driving, although the engine noise generally drowns it out when you pootle along. The noise doesn't get faster or slower, its just "there"...

I'm a complete engine amateur, so any ideas on what it might be?

could be water pump, or fan belt!

As above, but could also be from the alternator bearings beginning to go. I have seen and heard of quite a few alternators seizing up altogether. Lubricate the belt with a little water, start the car and see if you squeak has gone.

Also try the spring mount holding the exhaust to the manifold, mines squeeking at the minit, its a £5 part but i havnt had time
