R reg 97 Corsa Breeze 1.4i (x14sz)help!

Post by NickyNEUK »

My car has progressivly worse since the initial replacement of the petrol tank.

I've replaced fuel filter, pump housing, pump, map or maf sensor, throttle body and injector, cam sensor, fuel relay, coil pack.

if you take a look at this youtube vid and if anyone recognises whats going on here comment please i seriously lost now and dread takin it to a garage.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLaKp6VZo_Y

a description of what its like as follows :

The cars fires up then it revs up to like 2k revs on it's own then just dies!!. No matter how much I pump the throttle it has no effect whatsoever on preventing the engine from cutting out.
The car is undrivable in its current state.

I've also checked the immobiliser and thats working ok as far as I know.
Petrol is flowing through to the injector but that's about as far as it goes.
It sparking too on all plugs but also misfires too.
Compression is fine....I really have no idea where to go.

Dad thinks its the firing order cause its just not working right but we tried the 1-3-4-2 if I've wrote it correctly. and it doesnt seem to be the right one but its stated as that in the haynes manual.

Was the car running ok before you replaced the tank, and did it run for a period of time after you replace the tank?
Have you disconnected the battery lately, and was the car running after you connected back up? The reason I am asking is that it sure sounds and reads like an immobiliser fault to me, or an ecu fault.

disconnecting the battery does not reset the ecu, can garentee you. try the paper clip test and see wot comes up.

Basicly you would have to be a right tw*t to break one for parts

Thanks to everyone for an awsome weekend at pvs!

YER it was running fine before......
when the tank was replaced the battery came off, charged, then back on then it was runnin but poorly and hesitation.
replaced cat.exaust then it wouldnt fire up, replaced the crank sensor then it fires up then dies after 2 secs.....funnily enough if u remove the fuel relay it runs fine, can rev the car, no hesitation e.t.c but since the relay is out it dies after 30 secs or so. so theres a huge difference when teh relay is out. 2 duff fuel relays! now likly is that?

If it is running smoother with the relay unplugged, then firing order and timing should be ok. Why it should be over fueling which is quite likely the fault, since you have already changed the relays, and if all is ok the car, in theory should run ok? Have you damaged the lambda sensor, because if it suggests that the mixture is too lean, then the ecu will compensate with adding more fuel? I can only suggest that you go backwards, one at a time, like start with the car's own relay, then change say the crankshaft sensor, but with the sensor unplugged to begin with, as the cam sensor should compensate and allow the car to run in limp mode, rough, but running. Try to eliminate each sensor, one at a time, they do work in pairs, so that you should be able to get home if one or the other goes on the blink. Bloody weird bother you are having, are the earth's all good, particularly the pump, and did you change the pump to your own one?
