NEED HELP ANYBODY!!!!!!

Hey, just got a couple of queries. One minor and one major, although they could be connected ? :S
First things first, the minor:
About two months ago, my Engine management light started flashing. Although i had no problems starting my car, it drove fine and when i connected to diognostics, nothing registered. So i read up and aparently it means there is an imobilizer fualt. Although there is no problem starting the car and it drove fine. So i ignored it ! Just wondering if somebody had encountered this before.
Second thing, The MAJOR :
About a week ago i started my engine, went down the road. Went to change gear and the revs started rising rapidly and my foot was off the pedal. I panicked and quickly turned the ignition off. When i started the car again, after checking for any cable sticking. The revs jumped to 4000 and then returned to 1000 but was jumping between 1000 and 2000 consistantly. I then turned off the ignition left it a little longer and it started fine and didnt happen for sum time after. Although recently it has become more persistant and while driving along the throttle wont close and it continues to accelerate, i thencut the engine off, while moving and bump it and it either corrects itself or jumps between 1000 and 2000 revs with the clutch down or i lose throttle reponse if its up (throttle doesnt engage until pedal is halfway down and then it engages. I have tried the obvious: checking for vacuum leaks, cleaned throttle body, changed air mass sensor and lambda sensor. But still no difference. I think i can rule out a sticking cable, as if it was, then surely the revs wud not jump up and down and would not correct itself by the disengaging the engine.
This has really confused me and any help would be appreciated.
