humming/droning noise from rear l/h/s wheel.

Post by teulk »

When i drive i can hear a very loud humming/ sort of droning sound ( kind ok like the sound army land rover Tyre\'s make if any of you know what i mean). The shoes aren\'t binding so that ain\'t the problem and the bearings seem OK form what i cans see - no free play on the wheel. There is no grinding noises that i can hear either. Has anyone got any ideas as to what the noise could be. If i move the car when driving to the right ( ie. rolls slightly to the right so the weight shifts from left hand side) the noise goes away/ decreases. The opposite happens if i move the car to the left the noise increases.

no worries dude, it really is very easy, get some copper grease for when you put the bearing in, so it doesnt corrode. not sure if haynes manual says that or not

*sorry only just re-read what id put in the past, only need to change the bearing on the side thats knackered*

Dont use copper grease, just use the normal grease.

oh yeah? and whats wrong with copper! i love the stuff, its ment to be used where you have two dissimilar metals to stop a reaction between the two
