CORSA B HIGH IDLE 1.4 8v

Hi guys new here looking for some info into my w reg 1.4 8v corsa b, NOT ECOTEC just had new top end rebuild the lot done nothing left out. It went well for a few hours then started revving it`s t@@s off and cannot control it. Came up on diagnostics as map sensor changed this with 2 others and still the high revs, also at mot today the inspector pointed out the exhaust was way too hot and under the centre around the handbrake area it was very hot indeed..Was told at the garage the timing could be slightly off or a valve fault however have to rule out the valve fault as they are all good. We did change the idle control from a working engine and the throttle positioning sensor from same and still no luck, just wanted to know if any one has any pics of timing marks as i have seen some for the bottom pulley have the mark at the bottom and some a little way up from the bottom.. Going to have a full day at it tomorrow just wanted to know what else could cause this as it run sweet as after the rebuild, oh it did go like it was running out of fuel and would not tickover then after adding fuel the high revving began.
