Adding a Rev Count

Post by amandhanji »

Has Anyone added a rev count clocks to a merit 1.2 8v. I don't want to waste time finding the green wire if someone else has done it to find out there isnt a green wire. im not good with cables to be honest. sorry to be rude its just a merit has basically nothing. the only cable i found for it was the loom for the MFD.

I added a rev counter from a GSi into my 1.2 8v and it went straight in, no messing around finding any wires, I put the speedo cable in and the plug and it worked fine straight away. lol.

sorry I wasnt more help, I dont know what this is about a green wire as I never had to mess about lol

awryt mate, it could of been me lol, but its simple as mate, just go to scrappies, get a set of clocks, from 97 onwards model with rev counter, i got mines out my brothers car before we sold it, but its easy enough to get them out, just make sure you have a stubbly screw driver, once you get them out, take the cover of from the ecu, the one from scrappies will have green wire from the plug behind the dash, just take it out from there, and cut it at the ecu or pull it out, watch with the connector behind the dash cause there awkward some times, and just pull the wire out from the top, the green wire at ecu is at the side of it not actually on the ecu, its a gray connector, then when you put it in yours, you have to make sure the wire is in the correct slot at the back, and i had to change my handbrake, em light cable over to the one beside it i think, its easy enough, but put the clocks in and make sure there working before you build the dash board back up mate, hope this helps, need any advice just ask mate, ive had my car basically stripped lol

ok this is sooo simple its unbelieveable

your speedo in your current clocks.

do they start at 0 or 10mph

if 0 then u shud be able to plug in a rev counter without modifications

if 10, u need the green wire i think but dont quote me on that

if it starts at 0, then i may have some clocks for sale for you
