Automatic transmission gear lever lockout?? -Help!
Posted: Fri Aug 06, 2010 2:46 pm
Hell all - looking for some advice.
I've got a T reg 5 dr, 1.2 auto corsa
I went out today and it started up fine but won;t let me shift out of park.
The little plate ont he under side of the the gear selector lever won;t budge
and while I initially thought it might be something mechanical like some dirt or grit
stuck in there somewhere, I noticed that when trying to shift out of park - there
is a clicking sound coming fromthe steering column, like it actively trying to stop me
shifting gears. I thought it might be something to do with the immobiliser and key-chip
so I tried my spare key - and its just the same.....it Starts fine but can't shift out of park.
My workaround was to pull the 10A fuse for the auto transmission out of the fuse box
and this allows me to drive the car albeit in "limp" mode. I've tried replacing the fuse
and the problem persists.
Any and all help/advice is greatly appreceated - I'm hoping I don't have to part with any
money over this - somebody please tellme it s simple fix????
Thanks,
Ian
