if you wanna be sure just take it to a mechanic ask him to come outside for like three minutes and see what they say ... or if you know any of your friends tht go to a college or you just know one, take it down to there garage they wont charge as it will be for training and see what the tutor says. thts what happens at my college.

did you do the work yourself?
Did you identify the fault which caused the parts to go in the 1st place?
Did they go due to the lack of oil?
Is the noise exactly the same as last time?
sorry not to help more but a few more details needed 1st before we jump to conclusions.

hi,
i thort i did identify the problem as lack of oil, i didnt do the work myself my dad did it, he stripped down the engine and found half the camshaft dry and one of the ovals was actually round!, put it down to an oil blockage of some description, he unblocked all the thingys and it seemed fine, two of the rocker arms wer worn aswell so replaced them along with another two which looked a bit iffy, it was running sweet as a nut then the noise came back, its the same as before and almost as loud, when you rev it the noise goes away but when its idling its quite loud, changed the oil and filters coz the engine had to be drained also run engine flush through it prior to draining, really puzzled as to why it has come back, hope this helps,
thanks
chris

I would say there is possibly a blockage again. The engine flush may have lifted more crap from the sump which didnt come out when draining it and as you have been driving the dirt has been lifted and blocked one of your oil galleries again. Best thing to do is take off the rocker cover and see if there is any obvious wear, I had the exact same problem with a worn cam lobe which allowed a rocker to move, in turn the rocker also got chewed to bits so I had metal filings all over the engine, which we managed to get out luckily. I would just take the rocker cover off and check though, you may see something obvious

check everything over again mate, replace the oil pick up pipe that could be blocked, just check if its gettin enough oil, if its a tapping noise its defo cam shaft related,
